Are you up for something different? Experience nature’s nighttime orchestra performing a live concert as you hike the relaxing trails at the Mariposa Jungle Lodge! The striking beauty of the tropical night comes alive as you watch fireflies dancing through the trees on this relaxing walk through exotic jungle flora. With the light from your head lamp searching for surprised forest inhabitants you will hike for about thirty minutes while listening to the nighttime insects busy at work. You might see Armadillos scampering through the bushes searching for food. You will hear the familiar chirping of Crickets, the hooting of the Owls in the distance, toads croaking nearby, and the distant barking of the Kinkajous.
The highlight of the hike is when you get to bird tower. Elevated about 30 feet above the jungle floor sits the Mariposa birding tower overlooking the jungle canopy and offering wide open views of the stars lighting up the nighttime Belizean sky. By this time you will have no doubt worked up a really good appetite, and the ensuing barbeque on top of bird tower is likely to be the most memorable dinner you will have in Belize! Enjoy truly delicious barbecued chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp kabobs served with tasty steamed vegetables as you take in the views and listen to the sounds. It’s a jungle experience you will never forget!
